Totally reimagined for 2019, the new Softshell jacket draws on over 5 years of development, refinement and testing to create a winter jacket versatile enough to meet the needs of the most demanding cyclist and cover a broad range of temps and conditions. We started with an entirely new pattern and fit, working to balance a trim, flap-free fit, with room to layer and full mobility and comfort.
We drew inspiration from touring motorcycle jackets and their shaped sleeves, articulated shoulders/chest and curved back. The result is a silhouette that effortlessly fits in the riding position.
We partnered with eVent, a leader in high performance membranes, to develop our proprietary three-layer softshell, incorporating their Direct Vent stretch membrane with Primaloft performance yarn backer and durable stretch woven and DWR treated face. The result is a truly breathable softshell that has the ability to manage moisture and keep the internal climate warm, but dry -- a critical equation for long winter miles. Designed for temperatures from freezing to 50F and capable of warding off all but the most torrential downpours, thanks to it’s 10K waterproof membrane, it’s a one-jacket solution to winter riding. And, by combining the Softshell with our Alpha Long sleeve, the two-piece system easily covers the bravest of souls comfortably down to the single digits (without the risk of breaking a sweat).
Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.

Over the past few years, Velocio has slowly replaced all of my old cycling gear, because everything they make is fantastic. The new soft-shell jacket is really well executed. It fits perfectly in the shoulders and tapers nicely at the waist. I use a lot of my Velocio gear for trail running as well, and this piece is the perfect layer for low 30 temps. The orange/red color is really beautiful. Velocio gear is pricey, but in my mind worth every penny. Sizing: I wear a Large in Velocio jackets and this fit similarly to other Velocio jackets I had purchased.
The item was probably well made but the size ran very small. We tried the large and x-large sizes. My wife is a size 12. The jacket also did not provide sufficient thermal protection considering its cost. We opted for another Velocio jacket with a snap up front which is better but is still slighty small in size despite being extra-large. This one offers better protection against cold temperatures.
Love this jacket!! Wore it on a 40F ride the other day and it was perfect. Didn’t feel the wind - so happy I bought it. I did need to size up for the most comfortable fit.
Did my first gravel ride with the jersey and jacket system today as the temperature dropped to 27 and gravel was the order of the day. I love the deep, rich orange color compared to that of the fluorescents of other brands. Here in New England orange is required for entry into the woods to thwart hunters. Despite the lightweight of the jacket I was very warm without being weighed down with thick material. The cut does provide very comfortable movement, which I was a tad sceptical about after purchasing the rain jacket a few years ago that felt narrow in my shoulders- I should have sized up. I also like the deep pockets and cuff elastic panel. Although I take a medium in the Jersey I sized up on the jacket.
