Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
How do your vests fit?
Our vests are patterned for the riding position, with a tighter fit across the chest and an arm opening with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the vest will feel tight across the chest and torso. This piece should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), and shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
How do your jackets fit?
Similar to our vests, our jackets are patterned in the riding position, with a tight fit across the chest and arms with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the jacket will feel tight across the chest, shoulders and torso. The arm length might appear long as well. However, the intended fit is tailored for on-the-bike positioning where the shoulders and torso no longer feel tight and the extra arm length hits the wrists in the appropriate spot. Constructed without extra fabric to flap around - it should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), but shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
Great vest, high quality, lightweight feel and works like a vest should. My only complaint is the fit is odd, being extra short in the front. I even ordered the same size as my Velocio jerseys so the fit would be consistent, but it’s smaller in the front than the jersey.
I am 5’4 130 lbs 36 c cup I ordered the small This is a very thin vest great for summer the Early morning chill and rolls up small for pocket. It is shorter in front which when you first put it on standing up straight you think What the heck ? But when you ride you see why it was designed this way. When bent over on bike it lays just right Does not bunch up in front. The back is a nice very breathable mesh material no pockets but stretches nicely over fully loaded jersey pockets. Multi directional zipper is nice when climbing can in zip up for air and when descending can quick zip down without having to constantly take vest on and off.
True to size, Works very well as wind breaker, blocks the wind on the front and has a mesh lining on the back ! Good neutral color
I love the super light material on this vest, and the mesh back not only does it make it extra breathable, but design-wise it is very appealing. I had the older version of this vest, which ran a little small in the waist-hip area, but this new version fits great and has a couple more small improvements that make it just perfect. My measurements are 34" bust, 29" waist and 40" hip.
Love the performance of this vest and that it is so light that you can roll it up in one hand. (I own the matching long sleeve ultra light jacket in the same navy color from a few years ago, which is not available any longer). The vest back netting allows for the vest to fit over stuff in my jersey pocket like the food I stick back there. My biggest problem with this vest (and some of Velocio products in general) is that they are too short in the front and do not fit over my small belly. I don't have a large gut, but I'll admit I've got a little something, something, and I would love it if they'd just add an extra inch in the front length so that the vest doesn't slide up so much. I'm 5'8, 130 pounds and I bought a size Medium which is what the product recommended for 27" waist, which mine is usually 26.5". And it drives me nuts that the vest rides up on my front side. It fits fine on the backside because the vest droops down in the way they cut the bottom hem. So that back fits over fine, it's the front we need a little longer. This is the same issue on some jerseys models... not all of them... but I've tried a lot of the products and have returned a few for this same reason. The Italians like to make everything petite, so consider that when you're sizing. For tallish women (because I don't think 5'8" is that extraordinarily tall), this vest might frustrate you when you're standing up. Bent over the bike, it still rides up on me in front. Not sure if I'll keep it because I really need a light vest (most importantly because no one else is making this light of one), and I also support this company because of its environmental consciousness and biodegradable packaging. I marked here that it "runs small" but only in the length not in the girth.
