Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
How do your vests fit?
Our vests are patterned for the riding position, with a tighter fit across the chest and an arm opening with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the vest will feel tight across the chest and torso. This piece should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), and shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
How do your jackets fit?
Similar to our vests, our jackets are patterned in the riding position, with a tight fit across the chest and arms with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the jacket will feel tight across the chest, shoulders and torso. The arm length might appear long as well. However, the intended fit is tailored for on-the-bike positioning where the shoulders and torso no longer feel tight and the extra arm length hits the wrists in the appropriate spot. Constructed without extra fabric to flap around - it should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), but shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
I love all of Velocio’s vests. The cut is perfect. It isn’t too baggy, it isn’t too long, I don’t think it’s too short - it’s perfect. Living in SF I don’t leave the house without a vest and this one is perfect for those days where you know you’ll eventually unzip but you’re scared you’ll get cold at some point! I wear a small jersey and got a small vest - sizing is perfect.
Used this vest this past weekend. It was perfect for the weather. Very comfortable. I love that the zipper can be unzipped from the bottom. It is also easy to put in your jersey pocket if needed. Highly recommend.
Great vest, high quality, lightweight feel and works like a vest should. My only complaint is the fit is odd, being extra short in the front. I even ordered the same size as my Velocio jerseys so the fit would be consistent, but it’s smaller in the front than the jersey.
I am 5’4 130 lbs 36 c cup I ordered the small This is a very thin vest great for summer the Early morning chill and rolls up small for pocket. It is shorter in front which when you first put it on standing up straight you think What the heck ? But when you ride you see why it was designed this way. When bent over on bike it lays just right Does not bunch up in front. The back is a nice very breathable mesh material no pockets but stretches nicely over fully loaded jersey pockets. Multi directional zipper is nice when climbing can in zip up for air and when descending can quick zip down without having to constantly take vest on and off.
