With feedback and testing throughout the harsh winter months, we created a two-piece system jacket and mid-layer. This highly versatile combination covers an unmatched temperature and weather range, critical to riding here in New England, where summer rain showers in the 80’s can dip to -15F snow drifts in the dead of winter, we sought to minimize the number of pieces in our closet. Take the guesswork out of finding the ideal combination for the changing seasons with the Alpha System.
Inspired by alpine climbing and ski mountaineering, the Alpha Long Sleeve is designed as a mid-layer piece to extend the range of our jackets. Polartec’s Alpha Direct insulation is placed in strategic areas to maximize warmth without weight. The Alpha creates airspace on all leading panels (sleeves, chest, collar) to trap warm air. This construction allows for exceptional breathability and a quick dry layer through a wide range of temps and dynamic and highly aerobic riding.
The sides, back and lower sleeve are made from our Merino 210 - a merino fleece-backed fabric that’s exceptionally soft, thermoregulating and abrasion resistant thanks to the polyester face. A half zip keeps bulk and weight to a minimum and a slim silhouette allows enough room for a base layer, while fitting trim under the Ultralight Rain or Signature Softshell jackets. Three back pockets promise real storage capacity for long base miles.

Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
Our jerseys and bib shorts are intended to be form fit, providing compressive support, maximizing performance of the fabrics, and reducing fatigue and chafing. Due to the compressive nature of the fabrics, you will be able to fit into more than one size. Please use the charts below to help determine your optimum size:
Our sizing chart represents the majority of riders we’ve worked with first hand in our clothing. If your size falls outside of the specified chart, please contact customer service for insights or take advantage of our Signature Guarantee which allows for testing and return within 30 days if your riding experience, including fit, isn’t improved.

A cozy layering piece was appealing but it wasn’t comfortable because it was too tight across my shoulders. Pockets do not seem necessary.
I’ve had this top a few weeks, have worn it 3 or 4 times, and I’m loving it. It is very lightweight yet warm and can be easily layered up or down during a ride when temps rise or drop. The zipper is very helpful for ventilation. I ordered a medium based on reviews I read and it fits perfectly, not too baggy, not too tight. I’m 5’6, 118lbs for reference.
I love how soft and warm the jersey is. It fit snug so I sent medium back and exchanged for a large. If you want to layer under it order next size up.
This is a great piece especially when you need another layer under jacket — I had been using a short sleeve jersey in between a baselayer and a jacket during the winter. This jersey is much better for cold days. It very comfortable. The sleeves are long enough. I am 5’6”, 125lbs and typically a small has sleeves that are too short. An M size is baggy on me. The sleeves are good on this one.
The concept of fleece and merino wool makes sense, but given that our cycling season is over until next spring, I haven't had a chance to try it out to test its warmth. I have given it 4 stars based on its appearance at this time. It's really cute and cleverly designed. It fits under the Signature Softshell ( size small also) without bunching up too much.
