Designed for temperatures from freezing (or lower when paired with Alpha Long Sleeve) to 50°F/10°C and capable of warding off all but the most torrential downpours.WATER RESISTANCE
The new Softshell jacket draws on over six years of development and testing to create a winter jacket versatile enough to meet the needs of the most demanding cyclist, covering a broad range of temps and conditions. We started with an entirely new pattern, working to balance a trim, flap-free fit, with room to layer and full mobility and comfort.
We drew inspiration from touring motorcycle jackets and their shaped sleeves, articulated shoulders/chest and curved back. The result is a silhouette that effortlessly fits in the riding position.
We partnered with eVent, a leader in high performance membranes, to develop our proprietary three-layer softshell, incorporating their Direct Vent stretch membrane with Primaloft performance yarn backer and durable stretch woven and DWR treated face. The result is a truly breathable softshell that has the ability to manage moisture and keep the internal climate warm, but dry -- a critical equation for long winter miles. Designed for temperatures from freezing to 50F/10C and capable of warding off all but the most torrential downpours, thanks to it’s 10K waterproof membrane, it’s a one-jacket solution to winter riding. And, by combining the Softshell with our Alpha Long sleeve, the two-piece system easily covers the bravest of souls comfortably down to the single digits (without the risk of breaking a sweat).

Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
How do your jackets fit?
Our jackets are patterned in the riding position, with a tight fit across the chest and arms with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the jacket will feel tight across the chest, shoulders and torso. The arm length might appear long as well. However, the intended fit is tailored for on-the-bike positioning where the shoulders and torso no longer feel tight and the extra arm length hits the wrists in the appropriate spot. Constructed without extra fabric to flap around - it should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), but shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
Our jerseys and bib shorts are intended to be form fit, providing compressive support, maximizing performance of the fabrics, and reducing fatigue and chafing. Due to the compressive nature of the fabrics, you will be able to fit into more than one size. Please use the charts below to help determine your optimum size:
Our sizing chart represents the majority of riders we’ve worked with first hand in our clothing. If your size falls outside of the specified chart, please contact customer service for insights or take advantage of our Signature Guarantee which allows for testing and return within 30 days if your riding experience, including fit, isn’t improved.

I have a lot of Velocio kit. I've enjoyed much of it, but have not fawned over everything. This softshell, however, is exceptional. It's one of the best pieces of outdoor gear I've ever owned from any maker of gear for any outdoor activity. I've worn it on a number of rides from 2-3 hours in January in New England in variable conditions: in temperatures that ranged from 10F - 25F, from sunny, still days to overcast skies with blasting winds. On each ride in each condition, it has kept me comfortable and dry. It breathes well, so I don't heat up to the point of heavy sweating but also holds in warmth to help me achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature, even as my exertion levels rise and fall on different terrain. On the coldest rides, I've paired it with the Alpha jersey, and it's been as warm as promised. For cold winter riding, this is the best kit I've ever worn.
I'm pleasantly surprised that it fits so well considering my shoulders are more muscular, and arms are longer, than the typical cyclist. It also seems to breath very well as I’ve not gotten damp from perspiration while wearing it. So far have only worn it in the 40-degree range, with only a long-sleeve base layer underneath, so I can’t comment on how it handles colder temperatures.
Based on reviews, I purchased one size up and happy I did. Jacket performs well in my initial trials at 20-30 degrees. I'm 6'4" , 200 lbs and the XXL fits fine
I have owned many cycling jackets over the years and this jacket is by far the best cycling-specific jacket I have ever owned. I bought the Men's Signature Softshell Jacket to wear over the Men's Alpha Long Sleeve on cold (25F - 35F) road rides and fat bike rides. I am impressed with how well the jacket blocks the wind, yet still manages to breathe very well. I also love the three rear pockets and the dual zipper that allows me to vent from the bottom. I wear a Medium in most things Velocio, but I ended up with a Large in this jacket because I wanted to wear the Alpha Long Sleeve under it.
I am a solid Medium in Velocio tops but based on reviews here I ordered a Large and am glad I did. I am 6'1" 175. With layering beneath and the trim cut of this jacket it is needed. Yes, it is tight across the chest when standing but fits perfectly in a cycling position. I have used the shell several times this winter on Fat Bike rides in temps 20-40F with the Alpha layer underneath and this was a perfect combo.
