Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
How do your vests fit?
Our vests are patterned for the riding position, with a tighter fit across the chest and an arm opening with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the vest will feel tight across the chest and torso. This piece should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), and shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
How do your jackets fit?
Similar to our vests, our jackets are patterned in the riding position, with a tight fit across the chest and arms with a more forward position. This is intentional to reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When standing, the jacket will feel tight across the chest, shoulders and torso. The arm length might appear long as well. However, the intended fit is tailored for on-the-bike positioning where the shoulders and torso no longer feel tight and the extra arm length hits the wrists in the appropriate spot. Constructed without extra fabric to flap around - it should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and base layer), but shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to accommodate some range of fit within each size.
I bought this so I can stretch the life of my short sleeved jerseys into fall. It's great. The mesh gives you enough airflow, but helps block wind, and it's so thin it is very easy to roll up and put comfortably in your jersey for the warmer ride home.
So glad I bought this jacket! I've worn it twice on rides in the 60's and it was the perfect layer to take the bite out of a light chill and stay warm without overheating. Recently, I took it with with me on a mountain ride in the North Georgia mountains up to about 4,400 ft. elevation. Temps ranged from low 60s to 70 at varying elevations. I was so glad to have this jacket for the long descents as I was sweaty and chilled at the top. The jacket kept me warm enough but breathable and didn't feel the need to remove it when I was back in the valley with the sun peeking out. Very comfortable. I wear a size small jersey, 5'7" and 122lb, small jacket fits well. Also, it packs small, a plus.
I've worn this a few times in varying conditions. Once on a long day with short rain shower in the 60s. Another time I didn't realize how cool it would be in the mountains and only had my Velocio arm warmers and this jacket. But it turned out to be just enough. This jacket is super light and breathable. Very easy to pack away in a bar bag or jersey pocket. It's worth having at all times, just in case.
The jacket does what it's intended, it's ultra light, for sure, but it feels so minimalistic in it's fabric and even the plastic zipper, it feels cheaper than what I paid. It's very very thin. I'm hoping it doesn't tear or the zipper doesn't break anytime soon.
This is the kind of piece that you don't think you need until you actually take it for a ride. This was a last minute purchase for a trip to San Diego in February because the weather was looking iffy and I didn't have a light enough cycling jacket. It worked out great! Wore it out on my rides leaving in the chilly mornings, and once it was warm enough it was easy to remove and it packed so small! Fits right into your jersey pocket without damping your style.
