With a further refined fit for 2020, the new Softshell jacket draws on over six years of development and testing to create a winter jacket versatile enough to meet the needs of the most demanding cyclist, covering a broad range of temps and conditions. We started with an entirely new pattern, working to balance a trim, flap-free fit, with room to layer and full mobility and comfort.
We drew inspiration from touring motorcycle jackets and their shaped sleeves, articulated shoulders/chest and curved back. The result is a silhouette that effortlessly fits in the riding position.
We partnered with eVent, a leader in high performance membranes, to develop our proprietary three-layer softshell, incorporating their Direct Vent stretch membrane with Primaloft performance yarn backer and durable stretch woven and DWR treated face. The result is a truly breathable softshell that has the ability to manage moisture and keep the internal climate warm, but dry -- a critical equation for long winter miles. Designed for temperatures from freezing to 50F and capable of warding off all but the most torrential downpours, thanks to it’s 10K waterproof membrane, it’s a one-jacket solution to winter riding. And, by combining the Softshell with our Alpha Long sleeve, the two-piece system easily covers the bravest of souls comfortably down to the single digits (without the risk of breaking a sweat).
Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality. It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. While we stand behind the quality of our apparel, not adhering to these instructions will void our warranty against manufacturing & defects.
We strongly recommend washing your new gear before wearing it. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing - especially with bibs & shorts.
Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel. Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors.
Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments.
Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer. Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
How do your jackets fit?
Our jackets are patterned in the riding position, with a tight fit across
the chest and arms with a more forward position. This is intentional to
reduce flapping and extra fabric across the chest while riding. When
standing, the jacket will feel tight across the chest, shoulders and
torso. The arm length might appear long as well. However, the intended fit
is tailored for on-the-bike positioning where the shoulders and torso no
longer feel tight and the extra arm length hits the wrists in the
appropriate spot. Constructed without extra fabric to flap around - it
should fit tight over your jersey (with enough room for a long sleeve and
base layer), but shouldn’t appear baggy. We select fabrics that have some
elasticity to allow for freedom of movement even with a tailored fit to
accommodate some range of fit within each size.
Our jerseys and bib shorts are intended to be form fit, providing compressive support, maximizing performance of the fabrics, and reducing fatigue and chafing. Due to the compressive nature of the fabrics, you will be able to fit into more than one size. Please use the charts below to help determine your optimum size:

United StatesI really wanted to like this jacket. Great quality and cool, simple design. Pockets were big enough too which has become a thing in cycling tops nowadays. But the fit was just so off. I’m a large in all other Velocio tops and they fit great. This jacket is supposedly designed to be layered with so I ordered the Large. Sadly, this fit like a small/medium. I probably could have made it work without layering but for this price it’s got to be perfect. Thankfully the return process is easy. Maybe I’ll try for an XL if and when it’s available.
United StatesLove the color, love the fit on the bike, love the comfort in the cold. I'm 5'6", 140 lb, 37in chest, 31in waist. With winter layers underneath it feels a tiny bit snug around the chest and under arms when standing, but on the bike it feels perfect.
United StatesWorked great on a few rides in the 25-35 degree range including some windy conditions. Fits true to size: I’m 5/11 with a 42’ chest and L fit well even with a good layer underneath.
United StatesI've now used the jacket for several months in a range of temperatures and conditions, from 15 degrees F with a 25 mph wind to 50 degrees. By varying the layering underneath, I've always been comfortable. The jacket is breathable, stops the wind, fits beautifully, and is beautifully tailored. It is a joy to wear. I love it.
United StatesThis jacket was fantastic - really well made and ideal for what I was looking for - a soft shell jacket I could wear in the (New England) winter. Unfortunately, the fit was just a little off and too tight in the chest for me. I’m admittedly, not a typical cyclist at 6’3 and 215 with a 46” chest. The XXXL wasn’t in stock. Customer service was outstanding.
